Supporting Our Seniors
What's the issue?
Providing resources and programming for the aging and senior residents of District 3 is imperative to ensure that our loved ones remain healthy, active, and dignified as they age. Creating a district that cares for our seniors allows us to show the respect we have for them and will encourage younger generations to do the same.
Why is it important:
Our seniors deserve to age in place with dignity. Phyllis’ work with the seniors in our community holds a special place in her heart and will always be a priority.
Phyllis Got It Done:
- Installed over 150 free in-home smoke alarms for seniors
- Hosted more than 30 community events, including the annual Senior Holiday Party
- Promoted events like Seniors in Play, a program that encourages community and cognitive health among seniors
Looking ahead:
- Continue to make sure programs for seniors are fully funded, and that meals, medical care, and exercise programs will always be at their disposal.
- Continue the success of Operation Rebuild; a program for veterans in need of assistance with their homes.
- Support the maintenance and funding of our seniors centers and continue our traditions like our annual turkey giveaway and D3 Senior Holiday Party.
